چکیده

The fading channel model is seen as an important approach that can efficiently capture the basic time-varying properties of wireless channels, while physical layer security is a promising approach to providing a strong form of security. This paper focuses on the fundamental performance study of applying physical layer security to achieve secure and reliable information transmission over the fading wire-tap channel. For the practical scenario where the main channel is correlated with the eavesdropper channel but only the real time channel state information (CSI) of the main channel is known at the transmitter, we conduct a comprehensive study on the fundamental performance limits of this system by theoretically modeling its secrecy capacity, transmission outage probability and secrecy outage probability. With the help of these theoretical models, we then explore the inherent performance tradeoffs under fading wire-tap channel and also the potential impact of channel correlation on such tradeoffs. key words: secrecy capacity, rayleigh fading, channel correlation, outage probability, channel state information.

Doctoral Thesis Performance of Physical Layer Security under Correlated Fading Wire-Tap Channel

The inherent openness of wireless medium makes information security one of the most important and difficult problems in wireless networks. Physical layer security, which achieves the information-theoretic security by exploiting the differences between the physical properties of signal channels such that a degraded signal at an eavesdropper is always ensured and thus the original data can be har...

Secure Communications over Fading Channels

Abstract— The fading wire-tap channel is investigated, where the source-to-destination channel and the source-to-wire-tapper channel are corrupted by multiplicative fading gain coefficients in addition to additive Gaussian noise terms. The channel state information is assumed to be known at both the transmitter and the receiver. The parallel wire-tap channel with independent subchannels is firs...

A degraded Practical MIMOME Channel: Issues in secret data communications

In this paper, a Gaussian multiple input multiple output multiple eavesdropper (MIMOME) channel is considered where a transmitter communicates to a receiver in the presence of an eavesdropper. We present a technique for determining the secrecy capacity of the multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel under Gaussian noise. We transform the degraded MIMOME channel into multiple single input m...

Closed-Form Expressions for Secrecy Capacity over Correlated Rayleigh Fading Channels

We investigate the secure communications over correlated wiretap Rayleigh fading channels assuming the full channel state information (CSI) available. Based on the information theoretic formulation, we derive closed-form expressions for the average secrecy capacity and the outage probability. Simulation results confirm our analytical expressions.

The Ergodic Capacity of The MIMO Wire-Tap Channel

We investigate the ergodic secrecy capacity of a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) wire-tap channel, where the instantaneous Channel State Information (CSI) is available at both the legitimate receiver and the eavesdropper, but not at the source. We derive the perfectsecrecy capacity under a general ergodic fading process (with a continuous probability density function) and show that a circ...
